Wow, how in the world is it already July? All of the fireworks shows are cancelled, so we're working out how we're going to celebrate the 4th this year. I keep working on focusing on what we CAN do, rather than what we can't this year. How about you? What have you been able to do over the summer so far?
It's been a crazy week. Z's back to playing baseball, flowers are blooming and it seems like colors are exploding everywhere. We celebrated Father's Day and spoiled Ken, picked strawberries and went to grandpa's pool for the first time this year. Summer's going to be different, but we're making the best of it!
This will certainly go down in history as one of the weirdest summers ever. But we're doing our best to get our summer vibes going, all while staying safe at home. Hopefully you are safe and finding fun wherever you can too! Here's a look at all the craziness of our week. Lots of popsicles, flowers and finally getting my mother's day present!
What a week this has been. For clarity's sake, I want you to know that I am an ally. Centuries of systemic racism and police brutality are unacceptable. Being silent is not an option.
I understand that my family and I experience privilege that many do not have. I ache for the families that are hurting because of the disgusting actions of others. This must end.
As a photographer, I really wish my portfolio was more diverse. I haven't had a lot of POC reach out to me. But that's going to change, because I'm going to go find them. I kept looking for the happiness this week. And I'm hoping that in the weeks to come, part of that happiness is derived from meaningful change.
How much time are you spending outside these days? We renewed our zoo membership and are using our other two outdoor memberships to get out as much as possible. It's kind of a double edged sword, you know? On the one hand, after months of the same four walls it's so nice to get out. On the other, for some people it means that the threat has passed...which it hasn't.
We found out Zander's baseball season is going to resume. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's awesome to watch him play, but I'm not happy about possible exposure. Normally, you could call me a worry wart. Buuuuut, I've been experiencing symptoms of asthma for a while now-so I've entered into a potential at risk category.
Still, sunshine and flowers are lifting spirits around here to be sure.
